“Albert grunted. "Do you know what happens to lads who ask too many questions?" Mort thought for a moment. "No," he said eventually, "what?" There was silence. Then Albert straightened up and said, "Damned if I know. Probably they get answers, and serve 'em right.” -Terry Pratchett, Mort

In Wales, wild camping is illegal without landowner’s permission. Due to a multitude of safety, liability, and environmental concerns we Do Not provide overnight parking for visitors who are not are staying onsite. Wild camping is strictly prohibited on all 800 acres of Gwern Gof Isaf.

We accommodate class B campervans but not classes A or C. (As long as you keep your vehicle off of the pitching fields. The grass is for tent pitches only.) Parking is permitted along the access road that runs through the middle of the camping fields. This leaves plenty of room to set up an attached awning. Please book your stay in a campervan under the accommodation “Traditional Camping”.

General Waste/ Recycling: Gwern Gof Isaf provides general waste bins, dry mixed recycling bins, and a glass recycling bin for your convenience. We ask that you be respectful and take care in separating your waste appropriately (recycle as much as possible). Please be responsible and take your waste home with you if the bins are filled.

Water/Toilet Waste: Toilet disposal is a costly expense at Gwern Gof Isaf and we do not allow any sort of water or toilet disposal. There are multiple CCTV cameras operating onsite and any illegal disposal will be reported to authorities.

Dogs are strictly prohibited in all of our accommodations, including our cottages. In addition to a huge list of environmental, liability, and safety concerns, Gwern Gof Isaf is a working farm with livestock and our own hard-working sheep dogs onsite year round and that means…no visiting dogs. There are no exceptions.

There are no electric points available at Gwern Gof Isaf. If you would like to charge small devices, there are charge points available in the Indoor Washing Up Room. Please be aware that personal items may not be left unattended in common areas for any reason. Any unattended items will be removed.

At present the only accommodations that provide Wi-Fi are our holiday Cottages Gwern Gof Bach and Tal Y Waun. For every other accommodation, the quality of our broadband is extremely poor and would be of little use to anyone. Hopefully this will change in future.

No. Unless otherwise stated, there is no food or drink service available onsite.

The majority of big network providers are supported onsite, apart from Vodafone.

All the water available for use in the Indoor Washing Up Room, Toilets, Outdoor Sink, Showers, Bunkhouses, Shepherd’s Hut, Tal Y Waun, and Gwern Gof Bach are all potable. All of the water at Gwern Gof Isaf is springfed, filtered for particulate matter, including suspended particles, parasites, bacteria, algae, viruses, and fungi, as well as other undesirable chemical and biological contaminants. All of the accommodations available on this website are tested and approved yearly by Conwy County Borough Council’s Environmental Health as per UK regulations.

Unfortunately we do not have a shop onsite at this time. Please be sure to bring all the supplies that you might need with you or support local businesses in our nearby villages.

No. We do not allow vehicles on the grass for any reason. #1 It is an extremely disconcerting safety hazard for those pitched up on the field to have you drive your 4×4 a meter from where they are relaxing in their tent. #2 Tent pegs ruining tires and other unseen obstacles have gotten the better of guests in the past and others have gotten trapped in unseen dips and ditches. #3 Heavy vehicles compact the soil and cause soil structure damage. #4 We will not help save trapped vehicles AND # 5 you will be expelled from the campsite for damaging the beauty of our camping fields and disrupting the experience of other guests. Vehicles must stay on the designated access roads or in the car park.

Yes, but only at an acceptable level. We love music here at Gwern Gof Isaf, but being sensitive and considerate to the experience of those around us is always our top priority. We strive to provide a pleasant atmosphere on site and we ask that music is turned down or off upon any request by other campers or by the site owners. Failure to do so will result in immediate expulsion from the site. The recommended time for settling down and turning music off is 10:00 pm.

Who wants to go camping without a campfire? And what is camping without the delicious, smokey meals made together over the bbq? Campfires and bbqing are allowed so long as they are BOTH RAISED OFF THE GROUND IN A CONTAINER. Guests must provide their own firepits and bbqs. Gwern Gof Isaf does not rent out firepits. Guests must provide their own fuel for their firepits and bbqs. Gwern Gof Isaf does not sell firewood, kindling, or coal. Please also note that the removal of stones from walls, rivers, or anywhere else on the campsite (for any reason) is strictly prohibited and may result in immediate expulsion. Do not use stones to raise a fire off the ground. Do not gather firewood from around the site.

This is a resounding NO’. Live as well as deadwood is valuable to our ecosystem and we ask that guests refrain from damaging our trees. Stones used to hold up firepits or stoves scorch and split which leaves a depressing scene after you pack up and go home. Out of respect to the land and others around you, leave your campsite in the same condition or better than as you found it. It’s the only decent way to behave.

Yes. Responsible alcohol consumption is permitted. However, loud, obnoxious, dangerous, and any other sort of inappropriate behaviour will result in immediate expulsion.

Yes. Gwern Gof Isaf is a working hill farm in the heart of Snowdonia National Park and depending on the time of year there may be a little or a lot of animals onsite…wild and domesticated, rare species and common alike. Besides our sheep, ducks, cattle, chickens, geese, horses, house cats and sheep dogs; a plethora of wild species also make their homes here. Welsh Mountain Goats, Stoats, Toads, Newts, Frogs, Shrews, Moles, Otters, Bats, Foxes, Badgers, Egrets, an assortment of Corvids, and other birds of prey are all frequently observed onsite. Make sure to leave gates as you found them, whether open or shut to not disrupt stocking densities and do not compromise walls or fencing. Always use the provided stiles and gates. Stay out of sheep pens and private outbuildings. Pay attention to signs as they are posted to help keep everyone safe and happy. Keep your distance from all animals, wild or domesticated. The trapping, hunting, or harassment of any animal is absolutely forbidden and will be treated with the utmost severity as the situation requires. Furthermore, please be aware that Gwern Gof Isaf is also a habitat for all sorts of insects as well (like spiders, ticks, and midges) and guests should take any precautions that either their health or disposition deems as necessary.

We don’t mind if you get something delivered, but you must be present for it’s delivery and we will not sign for or hold deliveries for you.

No. We will not store and be responsible for your personal effects. You must keep all of your belongings in your campsite, accommodation, or in your vehicle.  Unless you have purchased an indoor accommodation there will be no refrigeration available to you. Please plan accordingly.
